University employees are encouraged to vote in local and national elections. Most employees will be able to vote outside of their normal working hours using either early voting or extended hours as offered by many polling stations on election day.
Employees may also request the use of flex time or leave (compensatory, bonus or vacation) to vote. Supervisors and Managers are encouraged to allow employees flexibility in reaching the polls.
Employees who are working inside a polling facility in a non-partisan, unpaid role, such as assisting voters with the voting process, may use community service leave. However, employees may not use community service leave to vote, for paid activities, or to distribute information on a particular candidate or issue.
